Air is the most important component for us to live so we should breathe clean air. The air that we breathe carries life to each and everyone of us, but sad to say some areas of our world where the air carries not only life-giving oxygen, but also noxious pollutants that reach unhealthful levels, such as ozone, carbon monoxide, fine particles, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, or lead.
Exercise makes us more vulnerable to health damage from these pollutants but during the workout we should breathe clean air. We breathe more air during exercise or strenuous work. We draw air more deeply into the lungs. And when we exercise heavily, we breathe mostly through the mouth, bypassing the body's first line of defense against pollution, the nose.
Our lungs are among the body's primary points of contact with the outside world. We may drink two liters of liquid each day. We breathe in an estimated 15,000 liters of air, approximately 6 to 10 liters every minute, drawing life-giving oxygen across 600 to 900 square feet of surface area in tiny sacs inside the lung but were not sure that we breathe clean air.
Oxygen is necessary for our muscles to function. In fact, the purpose of exercise training is to improve the body's ability to deliver oxygen. As a result, when we exercise, we may increase our intake of air by as much as ten times our level at rest and if we breathe clean air we may be as very healthy as before.
An endurance athlete can process as much as twenty times the normal intake. Mouth breathing during exercise bypasses the nasal passages, the body's natural air filter. These facts mean that when we exercise in polluted air and were not able to breathe clean air, we increase our contact with the pollutants, and increase our vulnerability to health damage.
The news isn't entirely bad. You can minimize your exposure to air pollution by being aware of polluted areas and by following some simple guidelines. Some guidelines that can assure you to breathe clean air are do train early in the day or in the evening, avoid noontime or afternoon exercise, and avoid strenuous outdoor work, if possible, when ozone smog or other pollution levels are high.
Other guidelines so that you can breathe clean air are do avoid overcrowded streets and rush hour traffic; pollution levels can be high up to 50 feet from the roadway, do make sure teachers, coaches and recreation officials know and aware about air pollution and act accordingly and most important, do be aware and knowledgeable of the quality of the air you breathe so that you can breathe clean air!

For a healthy lifestyle, drink beer!
Beer and nutrition? You don't usually see those two words together, but perhaps beer is a bit misunderstood. It may really be good for you when consumed in very moderate amounts and living a healthy lifestyle can be achieved by moderate drinking.
Beer has been brewed for just about as long as humans have been cultivating crops and is truly made with some very healthy ingredients. Those ingredients are hops, brewer's yeast, barley and malt. There are different kinds of beer and each kind has a distinctive flavor and color. Tasting and learning on the different types of beer is as much fun as tasting and learning about the different types of wine.
Drinking one beer per day may be good for your health and one way of living a healthy lifestyle since it has been associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease. Some experts propose that the folate found in beer may help to reduce homocysteine in the blood and lower homocysteine levels mean a lower risk of cardiovascular disease, lab studies have found constituents in beer that lower triglycerides and LDL-cholesterol in mice and drinking one beer per day is like living a healthy lifestyle since it reduces blood clotting so some studies found that cardiovascular patients who drank one beer per day also lived longer.
Other studies have found out those women who consume one beer each day is living a healthy lifestyle since it improved mental health. Drinking beer and other alcoholic beverages in moderation can also improve bone density.
Of course that doesn't intend that if one beer is good, three or four bottles of beer is still living a healthy lifestyle but its not. That isn't true. Drinking more than one beer or any alcoholic beverage per day can put too much alcohol in your system and that isn't good for you. Heavy drinking has been linked with several health problems and may not lead you in living a healthy lifestyle, so moderation is definitely the key with drinking beer. Some studies also point to one beer per day as being beneficial and can lead you in living a healthy lifestyle, and not drinking all seven beers or more in one day per week. That type of drinking habit will overload your system with alcohol.
The advantage of beer nutrition probably have nothing to do with the alcohol and there are some low-alcohol beers and non-alcohol beers available which offer the same heart-protective effect as regular and light beers. Drinking beer is one benefit that can lead you to a healthy lifestyle.

Positive Thinking Can Bring Good Health
Our thoughts are in your control, and they can be very powerful. Positive point of view can motivate a healthy life, such as eating right and being active. It's really simple if you believe you can take 10,000 steps a day, you achieve it and you will be more likely to take an extra walk to have a healthy life. If you know you can avoid holiday weight gain, you'll feel great when you pass the tempting dessert buffet, and fit comfortably in your winter clothes.
But the reverse is also true. Your thoughts can be defeating. "I'm already overweight, so it doesn't matter if I eat a second piece of cake." Or, "I only have 10 minutes. It's not enough time to walk." Negative thoughts, often called negative self-talk, may sabotage your good intentions and may not drive you to have experience a healthy life.
"I think I can"
Remember the famous children's book "The Little Engine that Could"? The theme, with its chant, "I think I can, I think I can," helped the small train accomplish its goal which is to climb up the hill. The book's message is as true today as it was when it was first published in 1930. If you set your mind to something, you can do it. Example for an instance if you set your objective is to have a healthy life, then you will surely attain a healthy life.
One in four Americans are trying to lose weight at any given time, and older adults are joining gyms in record numbers. If you are one of them, you are most likely to reach a health life and succeed in your fitness goals with the right attitude. Positive thinking can help you attain and maintain healthy life, such as becoming more physically active or limiting your sugar intake, can lead to a healthy life.
Statistics have calculated the success of positive-thinkers and found that those who think they can lose weight, or increase their physical activity or have a healthy life, do! These people are more successful because of their thoughts rather than people with less faith in themselves. The confidence you have in performing a certain behavior is called self-efficacy; and self-efficacy is a key in successful behavior change and having a target to have a healthy life.

President Gloria Arroyo’s 9th and last State of the nation address

Our Philippine President Gloria Arroyo had delivered her ninth and final state of the nation address at the Batasan Complex. After the triumph on the Constitutional Assembly the rumor of her term extension is now the talk of the town as 2010 approaches if there will be no election next year which results to President Gloria Arroyo’s extension as president. And amid sagging popularity and speculation of possible amendment to the constitution to stop her term.
Opinion polls have indicated the president is running out of steam after nine years in office, with some members of the public suggesting Mrs. Gloria Arroyo does not run for presidency again and it will be her last State of the nation address.
She should promise that she will not again run for office. What can she do if she runs again? If she wins in the upcoming election, the state of our country will be the same. Although we see that she is doing something, it is still not enough, considering her nine years in office.
With barely nine months to go before the presidential elections in 2010, there has been a talk that President Gloria Arroyo's allies would want to amend the constitution to extend her term, something the opposition and militant lawmakers have vowed to block. There's a big difference between her giving assurance that there would be elections in 2010, and saying that there would be elections but I will not be a candidate for any position.
That would be very clear because she has been saying that don't believe the talk about her wanting to extend her term is a pure propaganda, a destabilization effort of the opposition. So she should put a stop to that, answer the question by saying that there will be elections and she will not be a candidate.
President Gloria Arroyo should be working on the budget needed to allocate on the debts of the country, education and health. Also the Arroyo administration should have a framework on how they should solve the issue of unemployment and financial crisis due to global economic recession where Philippines is involve particularly on the export and foreign investment. Business groups said they hope President Gloria Arroyo will put an end to the speculation during her address, as political instability as such keeps away investments.
Said Alberto Lim, executive director of the Makati Business Club: ''It will help bring restore a lot of confidence if there's more political calm. The nervousness stems from her need to hold on to power. So this is what makes the business community very nervous. So her statements to allay these fears will help improve our investments.
Now those investments may not necessarily result in recovery right away because it takes time, but people are staying out, they are watching not only there is economic downturn in the economic cycle but there's also political instability till 2010.
More than just a litany of achievements, President Arroyo would have to clarify once and for all whether she will indeed step down in 2010. With a sagging popularity rating, analysts say this declaration will spell the difference whether she will be accorded a graceful exit when President Gloria Arroyo term expires next year.

Drink The Enough Amount of Fresh Water
Water is the most important element in life and without these element, the other elements won’t exist too. We should drink fresh water to remain properly hydrated. All of us vary widely in how much they can drink fresh water they need. Joints need it to keep on motion, and vital organs such as the heart, brain, kidney, and liver need it to work properly.
There are vast supplies of water in this world but some of these water supplies are polluted. Over one billion people are not able to drink fresh water. Polluted water isn't just dirty, it's deadly. It can kill us because of the bacteria in it. Before you drink water, make sure you drink fresh water and not polluted water.
If you don't get the sufficient amount of water, the body goes into emergency mode, and clings to every single water molecule it can find, we must drink fresh water to avoid some problems in us. The stored molecule shows as extra weight. The weight is only released once our bodies drink fresh water.

Take a Daily Walk
We already mentioned the advantages of exercise. Now, here's an advice on how to integrate physical activity into your daily life. Even if you’re too busy with your work or your studies, walking everyday is one physical activity you can easily obtain.
We're not talking about getting your time out of your hectic schedule to work out, that's important too, but introduce to your life a limb-saving movement into your walking hours.
"Just move and go hiking or walking everyday during phone calls, while you're brushing your teeth, while watching your son's soccer game," remember that every 50 steps a person takes is 1 calorie burned. There are a lot of ways to apply this healthy practice in our day to day life, walking everyday is an opportunity for us not to take for granted.
An eight-year study about people walking everyday, of 13,000 people also showed that, those people who walked 30 minutes daily had a drastically reduced chance of premature death compared with those who rarely exercised. And there are a lot of advantages and opportunities for us if we practice walking everyday, for example taking the stairs instead of the elevator, walking to the store, window shopping at the mall, leaving your desk and visit your co-worker instead of sending him an email and just sitting down and walking everyday and talking with friends instead of meeting for a meal.

Protecting Your Skin
Our skin starts to grow old as soon as we are born but it is not seen in a flash and the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) announce some healthy skincare tips like the best way to care and protect our skin so that it will look younger is to stay away from the sun.
The sun has damaging ultraviolet (UV) rays that can cause wrinkles, dryness, and age spots. Too much exposure from the sun can cause sunburn, skin texture changes, dilated blood vessels, and skin cancers. So I'm here to offer some healthy skincare tips.
Keeping away from the sun, on the other hand, is not always ideal or realistic. Less exposure to sunlight will enervate the body and may not result to a healthy skincare. To reduce the danger of skin damage, the American Academy Dermatologist offers the following information, always put on sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher. Always wear hat with a brim and wear other protective clothing when your expose directly to the sun to have a healthy skincare. Other healthy skincare tips are don't deliberately sunbathe since you are directly expose to the sun and try to avoid sun exposure between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a healthy skincare.

Practice flossing everyday
Flossing your teeth everyday could add up 6.4 years to your life, as a result flossing our teeth is one way in living a healthy life, according to Michael Roizen, MD, author of RealAge. In his book, Roizen lists flossing as one of the very important daily activities, along with exercise and quite smoking that could extend life span.
Roizen's calculation may raise some eyebrows, but the thought that oral health is connected to overall health isn't mind-blogging. Flossing our teeth is a way in living a healthy life since it adds our lifespan. The veins connected to our tooth has to be cleaned since this vessel carries the blood to the heart and if we floss our teeth everyday, our blood circulation is uncontaminated, this is one way in living a healthy life.
The mouth, after all, is an essential part of the body. "Teeth have a blood supply, and that blood supply originated from the heart," says Richard Price, DMD, consumer advisor for the American Dental Association (ADA).
Researchers have discovered that the bacteria that are produce dental plaque enter the bloodstream, if more dental plaque is gather, this may result in not living a healthy life. They say these bacteria are someway associated with the inflammation that occurs with plaque that blocks blood vessels and causes heart disease. Other researchers have found a connection between oral bacteria and stroke, diabetes, and the birth of preterm babies and those that have low birth weight may also result in not living a healthy life.
In addition to avoid diseases, flossing and brushing can help keep your shinning whites teeth for more than just cosmetic reasons. Teeth help you chew up food, speak properly, and smile graciously, which can help you keep your dignity and pursue a living a healthy life.

Getting The Enough Sleep
Our body has to have sufficient time to rest. Otherwise, you may find yourself feeling cranky and tired. This may sound like common sense, but according to the National Sleep Foundation (NSF), there are more than two-thirds of older adults under go sleep problems and there are numerous American adults don't get the sufficient amount of rest needed to stay alert.
Sleep is a fundamental in achieving good health and to mental and emotional well-being. The NSF reports that people who don't have enough sleep are more likely than others to grow a psychiatric problems and to use health care services. In addition, lack of sleep can negatively affect memory, learning, and logical reasoning.
Not enough sleep can also be hazardous. More than one-half of adult drivers have a problem of sleeping then they get drowsy in there work and it is a risk to the people in that vehicle there. Each year drowsy driving is one source of accident, more than 100,000 car crashes, 1,500 deaths, and tens of thousands of damages and injuries, reports the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The NSF suggests taking a 15 to 20 minute nap. Because it takes approximately 30 minutes for the caffeine to work, taking a nap while you wait for the caffeine to kick in can be helpful to restore alertness.
To avoid these problems of insufficient sleep, make sure to get at least seven to 10 hours of slumber each night. Kids must have more sleep than adults, and it is depending on their age.
